Need or Want?

Something I want:

I want this because the humidifier we have at home is seriously circa 1970, and sounds like a lawn mower when I turn it on. Plus, it's an ugly white and brown color. Clearly, this humidifier is perfect for me because not only to I love Hello Kitty, but it also has a built in night light! Yes, I'm 6. But I actually am not afraid of the dark, so that's really not important. The most important thing and cutest thing ever about this, besides it having like three different settings, is that the steam comes out of her ears!!! How freakin' cute is that??? I want it. Like now.

Something I bought:

I had my eye on this when I was at Target like a month ago. And it was only like $10, but I didn't want to be an impulse buyer, so I didn't get it. And then I kept thinking about it, and wanting it, because the water bottles we have at home suck. And I have a small mouth (TWSS) and I didn't want water going all over place like they do with Naglene's so that's why this was perfect. And it was perfect because it has a hydration meter, so everytime I refill, I just move it to the next number, which is awesome, because now I don't have to keep track of how many ounces of water I've drank today. And it's awesome because it's pink. Clearly. So, I finally got this beauty last week when I walked all over Target during my lunch hour, and I've been using it everyday. It's like the best. Seriously.

Weekend Recap

Wow so I'm like way late in posting my weekend recap, but better late than never right?

Friday- Went out for dinner and drinks at Bagali's, a New Orleans-inspired Italian restaurant for my friend's birthday. I met a Mormon boy, who was interesting to talk to. I think his name was Brian. Yeah, we'll just go with that. I had a nice fruit and Gorgonzola salad and linguine with bologonese sauce. It was tasty, but the one glass of wine seriously put me to sleep. Not to mention that the service sucked so we were there for like 2 or 3 hours. Ugh. After dinner I bailed out on more drinking and went home and slept like a baby.

Saturday- Woke up, tooled around the house (no I actually didn't use any tools, it's just an expression people!) and finally got myself ready to go to my girl's sleepover! We had it at Kristen's house because she just adopted this sweet lil puppy! The sleepover was fun, we didn't drink at at all, and Cranium was the highlight of the night.

Kristen with her new puppy, Alice.

Sunday- We laid out by the pool, and ate breakfast. Then M and I had some quality catch-up time at the mall, where we both found cute items at the Gap outlet store. I found a pair of jeans, a really cute sweater (or two) and M found some very Fall-ish type shoes. It was very productive, followed by a Girl Scout cookie blizzard at Dairy Queen and an Orange Julius. After shopping, I went home and basically just hung around the house.

It was a good weekend.

Apparently today is the first day of Fall, and here in Colorado we have crappy weather. Definitely no sun, just lots of grey clouds and gloom. Oh and it's COLD. Like I have to actually wear a jacket. What's up with that?? Anyways, work has been crazy, but I will post again soon, because I have tons of boy updates! I know, I've been saying that for like EVER but seriously, I do.

How was your weekend/how's your week going?

p.s. I've totally had some weird dreams, but they all have a theme. Guess I'll have to write about that too!

I'm cheap, I'll admit it

The best part about Sundays besides sleeping in is looking at the ads. I love getting up and looking at the Sunday paper because of the coupons. I have a thing for coupons. I always have. I don't know if I got it from my grandma, but I know for sure I didn't inherit it from my mother. She thinks I'm crazy. And maybe I am acting like an old person by clipping out coupons every week, but I happen to enjoy it.

I get real satisfaction when I save money, even if it's just .35 cents off a candy bar, or a box of pasta. I even use coupons at the store. New York & Company is a big weakness of mine. I constantly have coupons in my inbox from them. And my newest obsession is Old Navy Weekly, because they make hunting for the coupons like a scavenger hunt, and I play to win. For example, by clicking on the fire pit, I got a 15% off coupon. But I know I can do better, so I clicked around, and upgraded my coupon to $5 off my purchase of $50 or more. I'm just getting started...

I realize that I am a prime example of advertising and marketing working at its best, but as long as I am saving money, I don't mind at all.

What's your newest obsession?

All I want for Christmas...

....is to have all my holiday shopping done!

On Saturday M's mom came over and the three of us baked an apple tart.

Ready to be baked

Fresh out of the oven

Ready to eat!

None of us had done this before, but I think it was successful. We took our time baking and listened to the traditional holiday music channel, courtesy of Comcast. The recipe can be found here.

We sipped mimosas

It was very nice and relaxing, and I have to say, I think the beginning of baking coupled with the holiday music helped me start to get into the holiday spirit. I was telling M that when you're away in college, you miss home, and want to celebrate the holidays. But sometimes when you're already "home," the feeling can be harder to achieve.

Luckily, I have vague ideas of what people want this season, so I can get them soon. Other things I'm looking forward to are decorating and building a gingerbread house, and baking.

Have you done your holiday shopping?
